Hi Girls! Ya know, last night I went to adoration again with my hubby and after I pray the rosary I usually sit and read from various prayer books etc. One book I read talked about how we can get a message from God when we read scripture, etc. So, I thought about how many women in the bible thought they were barren and ended up having babies. Hmmmm???? That's a message I think about often. I, also, read an excerpt from this prayer book called "The Power of a Praying Woman" by Stormie Omartian. I believe this book is more of a Christian book not specific to the Catholic denomination. Anyway...these words spoke to me.....
"Ask God to give you hope for your future and an attitude of gratefulness every day of your life. Negative emotions reveal doubt. If we thoroughly trust God, what do we have to be anxious about? Why would we be angry, dissatisfied, envious, depressed, bitter or hopeless? Yet we all are susceptible to experiencing these kinds of emotions at some time in our life. So don't feel bad about having them, but don't live with them either. Refuse to allow the ugliness of negative emotions to mar the beauty of the life God has for you." I read these words over and over. Maybe it's not scripture but it's words that spoke to my heart. I've been praying and working on making IF a positive experience. I know I've been less angry, etc now that I am concentrating on appreciating what I do have. Last month was a testament for me and my faith. I had symptoms of a pregnancy so much the dr told me to take a HPT. But when I found out I wasn't expecting.....I did not cry...I did not pound sand...I truly accepted it and gave it to God. Can I do this now because we've been TTC for almost six years? Or can I say I'm at a place with God that I have found strength where I never thought I would have strength? I am grateful to our Lord. Sure, I will have bad days and days were I will forget my strength but I do know I have had less of those days (whew!). No matter what happens in my life...I have God and with that I do have strength.....plus I have a wonderful hubby who has been so supportive and loving(maybe that is why now I can be a totally surrendered wife to him which by the way, is amazing!!! Praise God!!!). I also have blog friends who have helped me on this journey. Thank you!!!
Wow! Your post is so inspiring! The question you have about how many women in the bible that thought they were barren and ended up having a baby really spoke to me. I have always found comfort in all of the women in the bible who continued to love God and unsure or doubtful that God was not going to give her a child of her womb. Amazing. That really brings me hope today! Thanks for this reminder!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this quote... "Refuse to allow the ugliness of negative emotions to mar the beauty of the life God has for you."
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing it. I am hoping to get to adoration this week. There is something about silence and being in the presence of the Lord that allows for so much revelation.
I just love that passage. Thank you so much for posting about this, that passage really spoke to my soul, too.
