I'm not too sure how I feel about today's visit with the Napro dr. We talked about me seeing a local IF dr (to check for endo, etc) and his take was that those dr's use different methods to find endo, etc so that may not be the answer. Dr. Hilger's method is more scientific, etc. He also said the IF spec out here do more IUI's and IVF's and that's what they concentrate on. My Napro dr did say that he was going to do some research and see if he could find another dr in the area to do an internal ultrasound to see if I'm actually ovulating. So, that was good news. For now, I'm going to do suppositories and he's going to check my P+7 prog blood to see if I'm getting enough progesterone. I think we have a plan but I could sense he was not optimistic about the other IF spec and following Catholic practices. His gut (and mine too) was the IF spec wouldn't want anything to do with the Creighton method and probably would recommend I not do that if I decide to get treated by them. So, I hope he can find a tech to do the internal ultrasound so we can see if the lack of O'ing is missing from the picture. Gosh....we all know it isn't easy finding answers to IF. It's also too bad our insurance won't pay for us to see Dr. Hilger's either. hmmmm....oh well...I'll keep praying and asking our Good Lord for guidance. Right now, I feel a whole bunch of uncertainty and basically "nothing". I just need to focus on the positives and prayer.
Also, upon reading the "Surrendered Wife" (I got from Sew), I am officially surrendering my finances to my husband. He's wanted to do that since we got married but I had to have that control over MY money. He manages most of the finances anyways and I just paid for incidentals and cat care (or whatever else I needed or wanted). My check was MINE but now it's going to be ours and we figured out a very fair budget for me. This plan is going to work out for US. Those next on the list will understand when you read the book. It's funny, at first I didn't think this book pertained to my marriage until I read the chapter on finances. So, we'll see how it works. I am so thankful my DH has a good job and I am able to work some too. :) God Bless!
You did a great job of focusing on the positive in the end of your post. I can't wait to read the book too! I am the one who writes out and mails most of the bills and my check is directly deposited so I never have cash and when I do, it is because my husband gave me some. We already use both of our checks to maintain our household. Unfortunately, that is the only way we make ends meet. I am so glad you and your husband are excited about this new way of handling your finances. I really wish my husband took more of a take charge attitude with finances. So you are one lucky lady in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteAs for the apppointment, I hope that you find someone local to monitor you O pattern. I wish you could see Dr. Hilgers though since it seems you really want to do so. Will your insurance at least pay out of network rates? That is what we did and the hospital and a few of the other medical expenses (labs, etc) were in-network. It is worth a try. Have a great week! Did you get my email with my mailing address?
I am jealous you must be naturally uncontrolling! :) I wish I was! But the finace part is great! I love it! I don't even bother looking or caring about the finances unless it comes to IF costs! Then I get wrapped around it like crazy! ;)
ReplyDeleteI would look for a Dr. that does endo all the time. That is what I did and I was in the best possible place to get my endo removed, and it wasn't even Dr. Hilgers! ;)
Thanks for the uplifting responses to my post! Life in Mazes...I did get your email. I will let you know when I'm going to put the book in the mail. Sew, I like your suggestion of finding a Endo specific dr. Hmmm....??? I'll have to check around on that. God bless.
ReplyDeleteI added you to my blogist :)I've had lots of experience with reg. fertility drs. zthey can be no fun.
ReplyDeleteI can understand why your Dr said what he did about the IF spec. It really is true, that ever since IVF became mainstream (80s +), the majority of time these Drs spend in medical school centers around learning the IVF techniques. This pushed laparoscopies to the side, since they didn't "need" this surgery anymore, they had something "better." PLUS, Dr Hilgers has made a lot of advances in the field of laparoscopic surgery in the past 30 yrs, that have ONLY been taught to other Drs who have trained under him... so even if you were to find a great laparoscopic surgeon who was non-NaPro, 99% of the time they would not be as skilled as a NaPro surgeon. (1% is reserved for that Center for Endometriosis Care, which I hear is fantastic... and non-NaPro.)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you enjoy the book! I'm looking forward to reading it!
My husband is getting frustrated with all of this. He doesn't understand why there are so few dr's that can truly help with endo or help us find out what is going on? He's working out right now to release his anxieties. He feels like this is a journey going no where. I somewhat agree but I'm holding out a little bit of hope. I wish I had more answers for him but this is the cross God gave us. We need more time and more prayer!
ReplyDeleteFound your site from Sew's tonight and wanted to share mine, plus my insurance story. My husband works for Textron and Dr. Hilgers was not covered under our plan, however, we made a request via HR to get Hilgers covered bc of his techniques. You can read my story on my blog, after Doc # 5 HR felt I did the best I could to seek treatment and agreed to put in a request to definity to have Hilgers covered in network. Now I will say, Creighton hospital was already covered, so I was just "fighting" the system to cover Hilgers cost. I had surgery in Sept so we are now TTC - I am taking B6, HCG and fertile CM. I'll keep things posted on my blog if you wan to stay in contact! I'll be praying for you.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're enjoying the book! I'm looking forward to getting it later... and good luck with all the doctor decisions. It can be so difficult.
