Surgery Date Scheduled

I don't know if I should be excited or nervous. But the surgery date is on the books for May 6th. I know this is really a medical necessity at this point but I hope it helps us to conceive too. Lord willing! May 6th is five days before I start my summer class and five days before I celebrate seven wonderful years being married to my DH. Hopefully we can celebrate the Sat or Sun before if I can. IF not, we'll celebrate our anniversary the next weekend. Sometimes we just have to be flexible. I pray all goes well and that the surgery happens as scheduled. Like everyone else whose had this surgery....I just want to feel better every month. I'm hearing more about a special diet to help prevent endo from coming back...I need to look into that more. I need to get on a diet and be more health conscious about what I am stuffing into my mouth. I've cut back on my morning coffee and evening tea. I don't know how I'll give up something I truly enjoy totally! I'm trying to get down to one cup of coffee in the am....it's tough...IF I was pregnant and I was told that I had to do it...I would in a heartbeat but right now...no baby...it's hard to give it up. I just LOVE my coffee. Anyways...the nurse told me that the day before the surgery I can have a good breakfast(I'm sure I can have my coffee) but my lunch and dinner have to be liquids and after midnight...nothing. Do milkshakes constitute an all liquid diet? Besides chicken broth, water or jello...what else is okay to have in a liquid diet? I know I'll be happy when the surgery is over and I am recovering. Please God...all will go good and I'll have healthy woman parts again. Blessings.
oh...I watched a show yesterday I think it's call Birth Day on Discovery Health where a woman gave birth to her first baby at 46! She thought she was going through menopause and never gave any of the symptoms a thought. She finally did a test at 12 weeks. She owned a landscaping business and worked away. The baby boy was completely healthy. I thought that was an amazing story. God works in wondrous ways...doesn't he? :)

  2. I'm laughing about your coffee "addiction." WHEN you are pregnant, you may be able to have a little. I had my coffee every morning -- not just a cup -- a big travel mug! My doctors have said I can have a cup a day if I need to (and if you're a regular coffee drinker, it's best not to go cold turkey anyway). They'd rather decaf, but regular is okay, too. Funny thing is, I've pretty much lost my taste for it! Go figure!

Glad you've got a date for surgery. It won't be long til you're feeling great!

  3. Wait, are you to give up your coffee after surgery, or just the day of surgery?

If it is just the day of surgery you will be fine. :) I got really bad withdrawal headaches after I got out of surgery. The dilata that I was on didn't even take them away! What the heck?

You will be fine on a liquid diet as well. YOu will be so geared up for surgery it won't bother you. Did they mention a bowel prep at all? It will be like fasting for you the day before surgery, no big deal. :) I would just stick to a good breakfast and water for the rest of the day. You won't even miss it! ;)

  4. I'm just curious what kind of things constitute a liquid diet besides water?

Sew, No, they said nothing about a bowel prep. I'm going to have an pre-op appt before the surgery where they'll tell me all the fine details. I have to call the office on CD1 and we go from there.

  5. Oh yeah...the dr would like me to give up coffee altogether. Not just around surgery time. When I had that D @ C four years ago...I got a bad headache later that day and it went away as soon as I had some coffee. I'm cutting down but I do know if I were to quit cold turkey like I did cigarettes (10 years ago)...I'd be a mess. Oh well....all I can do is try! A little can't hurt right? Once or if I get a BFP, then I'll reconsider if I want the coffee. :)

  6. I am so excited about you finally getting a surgery date! You have waited so long! If it is any consolation. My first surgery was the day after my 8th anniversary and I was doing the bowel prep on the day of our anniversary. What fun! Yeah, right. We celebrated a few days before that though. God is good and I am praying that miracles aboud for you and your sweet husband! Again, I pray that your doctor gives you the best care you deserve! How does your DH feel about your upcoming surgery?

  7. My Dh is okay with it because it's a medical necessity. He knows I suffer monthly and he was there consoling me when I was sick on the progesterone. He's been super supportive and he'll be there for me! My parents live four blocks from us so they'll be around if I need them too. I'm blessed.
    Oh...What is a bowel prep?

  8. Wow that is great you have a surgery date! Yeah...I am guessing you're having a laproscopy (sp?)? I just thought that because you mentioned endo. By the way, you mentioned going on an endo diet. I have a girlfriend that had stage IV endo and went on the endo diet almost 6 months after her lap. After three months on the diet she was pain free of cramps then three months later she conceived her healthy baby girl. The whole pregnancy went really well and she attributes this to the edno diet. There was a book she recommended for it. If you like I can find out the name. Just let me know :) You would think I would stick to this diet after hearing this but my will power is week. Also, after my last lap. I thought it was easy to give up the caffine for good while on the high pain killers :) Although this doesn't work for everyone. Just a thought :) Hope this helps!

  9. I'd be interested in the book. I need a diet that I can stick too and not one where I need to eat some funky foods or things I wouldn't go near or dream of making. I have to remember that my husband has to eat what I make too. I'll keep working on that and make some changes to the diet.
The IF spec recommended migraine meds for the headaches that I'd get from no caffeine....hmmm??? I just really like the stuff. No meds is going to take that away. I'm cutting back so that's the first step.

  10. I love my coffee in the morning! That's awesome you are trying to cut back- that would be so hard for me. I did have a friend who brewed it with regular and decaf. in the same pot- I guess like half and half. Although, I'm pretty sure I've seen 1/2 the caf. containers at the store- that would probably be easier. Good luck and I'm so happy you have a surgery date! Gotta love putting something down on the calendar! :)

  12. Hi,
Here is a link to a site that has an e-book full of recipes for an endo diet. I have found some of them to be really good, but I haven't tried that many. Also, here is the link for the book that my girlfriend based her diet on. She is a very extreme person and followed this completely. I am horrible with following things so I haven't tried this completely but I found the book to be very helpful and interesting. You'll proably hae to copy and paste these links.

I know what you mean about the coffee. I am back to drinking it now and trying to quit again...but it is just so good :)
