If you know of a good private adoption agency in the US..we are willing to do interstate travel (we live in IL) and we are NOT going to let the costs stop us....please email me the info at prayerfuljourney7@gmail.com. If you don't, please pray for us as we embark on the adoption journey once again. Thank you!!!!
St. Anne...pray for us!
In case you are curious as to why we are looking into adoption once again, it's the fact that the dr basically gave me a choice....I need to take either Clomid or Femera (to give us the best chances of conceiving and not having a miscarriage). Clomid gave me at least 15+ headaches in the one month I took it, a "fuzzy" feeling tongue (hence, allergic reaction) and major hot flashes (a few headaches were intense migraines). Femara gave me the hot flashes and explosive (daily) diarrhea. Neither sounds like a good choice when one wants to have quality of life! Geez. How can I live with those choices? Yes, my dh is now taking some supplements to help with his own issues and I will continue with the meds that suit me...and my very sensitive body...but it will most likely not be enough. We have to quit kidding ourselves and look at other possible options.
I cried last night. We talked and talked. My dh basically stayed up all night and went to work this morning. We know we want to be parents. We no longer want money to be stopping us. We'll do what we have too. We are doing our research and lots of praying. We both agreed that now is the time.
Thank you for your continued prayers!
Praying for you and your discernment! We looked into
ReplyDeleteLifetime adoption and we liked them a lot it is just expensive for us at this point.
Thanks..we'll look into them.
DeletePraying for you! I don't know anything about adoption agencies but I do know prayers!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Prayers are definitely needed.
Deletewe are near eachother- i'm in dekalb. a friend just adopted from The Cradle and had a wonderful experience. i'd be happy to ask her if she'd chat with you- I'm sure she would!
ReplyDeleteInteresting...I read on their website that they don't serve this area. We are actually looking at the Ange.l adopti.on agency. We have a ton of questions.
Deleteps. my husband was adopted through The Cradle over 40 years ago!
ReplyDeleteWow..I didn't know they have been around that long. They must be good! We'll check them out as well.
DeleteThe Cradle has an excellent reputation. But be aware that they are a very large agency and the wait can be long.
DeleteI don't know about adoption agencies, but I wanted to tell you I am sorry that the end of the road for a bio child came quicker than you wanted and was basically a decision made for you. That is tough. I am praying for you and your husband and excited for this new chapter and the possibilities for you both!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words. The nurse didn't say I couldn't get pg...just I have better odds with the meds...I guess I was taken back by the fact that the dr didn't seem at all concerned with the side effects. Interesting.
DeleteI will ask C at Patiently Waiting...kinda - they adopted from a national agency, but I can't remember the name. Praying for you and S as you travel down this road.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that Marie reached out to me. I have been a terrible blogger lately :( However, wanted to share my experience. We used American Adoptions (national agency) for the adoption of our son, Anthony. We are currently working with them again for our second adoption journey. We felt comfortable with this agency throughout the adoption of our son. Their communication with us was good especially during some roadblocks while in the state of CA waiting ICPC approval. The cons are definitely the expense. And being a national agency you cannot have the face to face communication as easily. The pros are wide exposure to many different birthmothers and legal costs, services are all included. We worked with a local agency (in MN) first but had very little movement (i.e a match). American Adoptions is telling us about a 9 month wait Many prayers for you! Please contact me with specific questions. God Bless!
ReplyDeleteThank you...we will check into this agency.
DeletePrayers!!!!! Love the attitude! This is the beginning of the end of the journey!
ReplyDeleteObviously Cathoilc Charities. We used BEthany Christian Services twice and loved them!
Thank you!!! I have looked at Bethany....we are currently talking to a "local"...not really local for us but in the state of IL..agency that a priest recommended. But we are still researching!
DeleteSorry to be a wet-blanket, but BCS requires prospective adoptive parents to sign a statement of faith that Catholics could not sign. ("I believe scripture is the sole and final authority on all doctrinal and moral matters.") Until 2005, they flat out rejected Catholics as being insufficiently Christian.
DeleteJust saw this. We spoke to advisers and our priest before signing the statement of faith. We signed it in full agreement knowing scripture is the authority- as interpreted by the Holy Mother Catholic Church! We absolutely loved working with Bethany and can't recommend them highly enough!
DeleteI would look at some of the adoption agencies in TX, which has very friendly adoption laws and often short wait times. Be aware that you must be racially open with most of these agencies, or you are in for a long wait.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the information.
DeletePraying for you! If I hear of anything I will pass the info along!!
ReplyDeletePraying for you!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe used Gift of Life in FL for both of our adoptions.
ReplyDeleteWe used our local (in KS) Catholic Charities. Not sure if adoption is offered in each location. Our agency was one lady. She was nice, but being one person, she had a lot on her plate & I felt like things took a long time.
ReplyDeleteHowever, God sure times things perfectly, as we adopted Luke through them. We also had put in an application & deposit with an adoption lawyer who got a good amount of traffic. We were matched (ironically) right after we were matched with Luke, and they do present you with cases to review for whether the adoption expenses fit in your budget. They were in Wichita, KS.
If we didn't move out of state, we'd go with both options again. :)
Prayers!!
