My first week.

I have to say my first week of official teaching has gone well. The students are really good...probably the best I've ever had to deal with...so I have to say I'm happy with that. Praise God. The curriculum is hard though. I'm having a hard time making social studies interesting when it's about world geography...snore. Math is tricky too...I'm an early childhood educator...I haven't had to think about protractors and measuring angles in a long, long time. I've had to refresh myself on teaching fifth grade math! Funny huh? The rest of the subjects are fine....oh well. I've had some long days and today (Sat) I spent the day rearranging the room and decorating bulletin boards..yep...I do feel like a teacher! God is good. The other teachers and staff are super sweet too...which is making this job great!

As far as the car goes after hitting the deer last week, looks like it is fixable afterall. That will give us some time to shop around for a newer car (hopefully next summer). So, the car is in the shop and we are driving a rental. It's a nicer rental....which I guess is a treat. :)

My poor mother came back from F.L with a very bad stomac.h vir.us...she's been miserable. She's 80 so things like that really take their toll on people. She's weak and sick. I almost went to visit her but she told me to stay away...she didn't want me to get it. I completely understand. Thank God she's okay and did not need to go to the hsp but she did admit she thought she was close to needing help. If you could spare a little prayer for her continuing recovery...I would appreciate it.

Saint Ann Seton...pray for us!

Now..to catch up on grading!

  1. Great update J and I am glad the first week went well - may the rest of the semester going as well and even better! Geography and math are two of my favorite things so I kind of smiled when you were describing them! ;) I would have a harder time with maybe a subject like English or something like that! ;) Good news about the car...praise God!!!

  4. What a blessing to have your first very-own class be so well-behaved! I have to admit I was bored with geography too when I was in school, but I appreciate knowing it now. I remember my second-grade teacher had a (giant) map of the United States painted on the floor (each state in a different color, no labels), and all of us had all of the states memorized by the end of that year. I don't suppose you could fit the entire globe on your floor...
