Random, Random, Random.....

I apologize for this random post in advance.

First of all, I'm basically done with my class. Two more to go! Whew. I presented a project on Feta.l Alcoh.ol Spectru.m Dis.order last Tuesday. OMG! No drinks ladies! None...as little at two drinks...can cause brain dam.age. The most detrimental time for brain dev is 3-6 weeks gestation...when most women (not us..especially those who chart) don't know their expecting! So being that most of us are either expecting or TTC'ing...no alchy. It's not worth what it can do to your baby, is it? My advice is based on the research that I just did. Email me if you'd like more info and I do have some great websites you can check out for more info but I'm not going to plug all that in on this blog. I surprised myself by being the first one to present. I'm never one to go first...but I knew I had a good presentation and class activity so I was excited to share.

Okay...I bought almon.d choc. milk and guess what? I liked it. Dh? He said it's okay. I've cut down my dairy intake which is hard for me. But this month my usual cramping has not been too bad. So....I'm going to buy the reg almon.d milk and see if I can have that with my cereal. Is skim milk that bad? I guess I don't know how dairy is so bad. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm going to try some other things but I won't blog about them until I know they are helping. I'm afraid to think the endo is returning. Ugh...my cramps are not as bad as they were before the surgery but they are there and more of a slight or mild discomfort. I'm working on less salt intake too. Hmmm.... I know my diet needs a complete overhaul...but I'm trying. little steps.

I don't want this to be a super long post but the other day...my dh came into my office and noticed that I was updating my charting. He asked "Did we bd around ovulation?". I bluntly said "no". Now that we are out of the woods of having a baby during my studen.t teachin.g next fall...I guess we can "try" again. My dh and I discussed this and he told me to let him know when I'm ovulating and we'll see how we feel and if we want to make the effort. *sigh* I guess after so many months of not worrying about it and being off of that emotional rollar coaster we consider "ttc" an effort we have to contemplate. Ha! Neither of us are excited or have hopes up. We're not ready for med interventions either. I guess we'll open our lives and hearts to life again and live our lives according to God's will for us.

BTW: I've been noticing more headaches since ovulation these last two months. At first I thought it was my allergies but now I think it's hormonal. Ugh! Can't I get a break here? I'll be 40 soon so I'm wondering if there are changes going on. hmmmm....I'll just keep praying.

FTHC: My visit with my cooperating teacher went well last Monday. She seems nice. She is a structured teacher which is how I am too. So, I'm sure it will be a good experience! Praise God.

  1. I love almond milk! I can't drink reg milk, b/c it makes me break out. The Lactaid was really watery, so I was excited to try the Almond milk. I have had the vanilla and the reg. I like the regular waaay better than the vanilla. It almost tasts like regular milk. Regular skim milk isn't bad for you i don't think. I just know that it doesn't have all the nutrients in it that the Vitamin D milk has.

  2. I like random posts! Sometimes there is just so many disjointed things happening, it brings order to just bring them all into one post! :) Great information about alcohol. I rarely drink - mostly because I don't like the taste! LOL! That being said - have you done any studies on the effects of caffeine? I am leary of drinking any pop with caffeine during the 2WW, but I am curious. Have a great rest of the weekend and God Bless!

  3. Great post! I always wondered what the most sensitive times were for alcohol use during gestation (not that I have plans to drink if I am ever in that situation). I ditto JBTC's question about caffeine - I wonder what the effects are.

As for the dairy, even skim milk should be avoided but do experiment with nut "milks" like you have been doing! I just saw a low-fat coconut milk drink by the makers of Silk. I like to use soy milk because I only use it with cereal and the occassional chocolate chip cookie. Good luck with the diet modifications - they do make such a big difference in feeling good.

  4. I'll have to research about caffeine and how it affects a developing baby...I know "they" say to avoid it. Hmm...good question especially since I drink coffee.

I went to the store to buy the reg Almon.d milk because it's on sale...and they were out! So....since I have plenty of skim around...I'll manage until I can get that alm. milk. Now I just wonder if I'm going to have to take calcium pills....my mother has brittle bones and the onset of osteoperosis. So, it's a double-edge sword for me.

  5. I use almond milk in stuff now that I'm doing the endo diet. I've never been a big milk drinker, so I don't really drink it by itself.
