One

Oh, hello there.  I know I've disappeared for a bit but I hope to be back now.  I hope.  I keep trying to do things but get side tracked.  LOL.  Well....hard to believe but little Teresa has turned one! I think I cried on and off for the week of her bday and at her party, I couldn't thank our friends and family for coming and helping us to this milestone without crying.  She is just a precious little girl and so very strong...just like her name sake.  She is very strong...sometimes I wonder how I'm going to keep up with her!

So, the night before Teresa's first birthday she decided it was time for her to walk independently.  She had been cruising around furniture, pushing a walker toy, taking steps here and there but that night (which was Easter Sunday), she was determined  to walk and not look back...and that she did.  She did a lot of falling but she kept getting up and trying again and again.  Determination.  It's kind of sweet but I take her to the gym with me (they provide care so I can work out) and this week I put her down and the staff at the front desk (who have only seen me carry her in) were surprised to see her walking!  They were like "She's walking!!!" and Teresa knew she was the center of attention so she laughed and walked with so much pride.  She made so many people smile that day. It was very cute. I have to remind myself to let her walk...I'm so used to carrying her around.

Teresa also loves to eat...and she hasn't developed any kind of pickiness yet either. It's been fun feeding her.  Now I have to put more thought into dinner time. Hmmm....we do eat a lot of chicken.

Teresa has had two ear infections within the last month or so.  Ugh.  The antibiotics were no fun,  I pray she is healed now.  Every time she touches her ear...I get worried.

Thankfully, she has been doing well and I'm still adjusting to motherhood.  I enjoy working out and doing yoga at the gym.  It's nice to be around adults for a bit and they take good care of Teresa in the daycare area that I really don't worry about her.  It's also nice that my jeans are fitting me better.  My dh and I try to get a date night in at least once a month!  We have a dear friend who enjoys babysitting for us.  We have a few girls in high school that are going to start sitting for us as well.  Right now they come over and play with Teresa while I'm home getting stuff done...kinda like a mother's helper.  I think they'll have a better experience watching Teresa if they are all familiar with each other.

Walking has been a game changer for us.  She does not want to sit anymore.  She is up and exploring!  Walking does tire her out so the more she does it...the better naps she takes which means more time for me to get stuff done or take a nap myself!  We have started to go to a different church with a cry room.  We can keep better tabs on her and don't have to carry her throughout the mass.  Our own church has lots of stairs and no place to let a child roam.  She isn't going to sit and she's getting too big to carry.  We do bring treats and books but that only entertains for a bit.  She wants to walk and explore!  She also uses her voice more now too.  I love this stage but I also want to be respectful of others in the church.  So for now, we go to another church with a cry room.  God understands if it's hard for us to participate right now.  Right?

I will have to post pics soon.  I am not liking my computer right now.  Ugh!  We got some good ones taken of Teresa but I can't download them on this computer.  So frustrating.

Well, I hope you are all doing well.  I had a chance to catch up on some blogs today and it looks like some exciting things are happening!  As always, I do remember to pray for my blogger friends.

  1. Such a fun update to read! Happy birthday Theresa! Lucas is now two and it seemed like from 1-2 was the hardest for church (we were mostly in the cry rooms too), and now he seems to be getting a little better each week. Enjoy, and get a nap when you can! :)
