Is now our Blessed Mother's room!
When we decided to embark on yet another adoption journey we took everything out of the room that is going to be the baby's room someday (Lord Willing). The cat tree was in there and misc stuff that we just threw in there. Well, it got kind of depressing looking at that empty room day after day. Not too long ago, I got an idea!!
My dh and I bought a statue of our Blessed Mother as an anniversary gift to each other last May. We kept her in the living room. I loved having her there and we prayed the Rosary once a week with the intention of a successful adoption of a healthy baby and for the health of the expectant mom. It dawned on me one day"Why don't we place Mary in that empty room and we can pray for our adoption intentions in there?" My dh thought it was a good idea (he was skeptical). So, we placed Mary in the room, with some flowers and a nice pic of the both of us on that cabinet and one comfy chair for prayer. When we pray the Rosary in there I sit on some comfy oversized pillows on the floor and my dh gets the chair. Ladies, the conversations we have had after praying the Rosary in that room have been amazing. It's like She's with us and directing us. We often talk about our future.
Besides our Rosary time, I also write in my journal, I read, I pray, I meditate quietly, I envision, I sit in quiet solitude with Mary. I listen to christian music that uplifts me and at times I practice yoga in that room. There is no tv, no computers no electronics (except for my phone for the music). Sometimes the cats join me and we hang out in there. It's my peaceful place.
Now when I walk by that room, I smile and say to Mary "Pray for us!".
Last Friday during adoration I was reading a book and some words popped out at me..."Trust your future to the Lord." Those words made me think. In the last few weeks, I've had some things come up that made me panic when thinking about the future. My mom had some health issues (thank you Lord, she is healing) and some other events. It's so hard to trust in Him. So, after pondering those words....I've decided to work on that...leaving my future to the Lord. I now feel better.
Also, in case your wondering, the cabinet does have some baby items in there. It's got a baby lock on it because our cat likes to go in there. LOL!
I love your Mary room! What a great way to transform it into a source of hope and prayer!
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI can't even explain how much joy this brings me. Such a wonderful use of that room! Love love love so much!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful statue of Mary. What an awesome move into the future baby's room. So cool to hear how God is blessing both you prayer together and your time together as a couple. Several years ago my parents converted a bedroom into a "prayer room" in their tiny three bedroom house. It was a sacrifice re:space, but the peacefulness that comes from time in that room, translates into more peacefulness in the home. What an awesome thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more...sometimes I find myself sitting in there with our Mother before bed...just sitting in silence with Her. Quite amazing.
DeleteWhat a beautiful idea!
