I gave "The Talk"
Yep...last Friday..with the help of the Holy Spirit..I was able to talk to my students about Huma.n Re.prod.uction. It wasn't so bad with the girls and talking about how they will be starting their cycles soon...etc..etc. However, talking to the boys about what their eventual job will be in this miraculous process was....interesting. Through lots of giggles and embarrassments...we got through it. The boys were "shocked" and most said "That is gross!" Which we know as adults they won't feel that way much longer. I did get some interesting questions about same s.ex couples who have children. Yeah..try explaining that one. They were under the impression two women could have a baby together like a man and a woman...well...not physically. Lots of comments about that show "1.6 and preg.nant" and why it's "bad" for a young girl to have a baby. I explained that the baby is not a sin...never will be...but the act before marriage is seen as such in our faith. They can be forgiven for it then I talked about being logical...did any of them really want a baby in a matter of a few years? They were all like "No!" So, end of discussion. The hardest question...."Why can't some women have children?" I, of course, know alot about this one so I answered "There could be many reasons..." and one girl said "She can always adopt." Like it's that easy...but in an eleven year old's mind..it is. I did explain that it's God's will when creation takes place and it's such a miracle. We should treat it as such and abor.tion is not an option. They understood abor.tion. They all seemed to understand that adoption is a better option..so I guess I did my job...as best as I could to teach these young minds about God's perfect gift of life. In other news...my mother is doing better..Praise be to God! Her vision is improving and she's waiting to get an appt with the neurolog.ist. She did hit her head awhile back and she's thinking her vision issues came about soon after that and the dr's appt added injury through that one exam. So...I'm thankful she's on the mend and she's going to see that specialist. I did get a letter from my principal confirming our conversation that I won't be teaching the 5th grade next year. He is going to try to get me something at another school (if he can). He knows principals and he would definitely recommend me for a younger grade. I've put this in the Lord's hands and all will be okay for He is Good! So as of now...I'm making the best of my present situation and I know I've gained valuable experience and knowledge. God is good! Well...back to work..and continuing prayers for my prayer buddy!
